Magnetic and electric antennas calibration for partial discharge charge estimation in gas-insulated substations

چکیده
There are no accepted procedures that quantify the apparent charge of partial discharge (PD) in gas-insulated substations (GIS). This paper proposes a calibration method for PD estimation using unconventional electromagnetic sensors: magnetic loop antenna (inductive coupler) and an electric (capacitive coupler.) The procedure is intended voltage double integral method, which reviewed antennas extended antennas. By injecting low-frequency sinusoidal signals, constants determined two different test setups: first one being testbench where characteristic impedance matched second full-scale 420 kV GIS. validated three ways: with calibrated pulse testbench, GIS, defects revealed frequency limit range dependent on GIS length sensor’s signal-to-noise ratio. validation methods showed low errors antennas, demonstrating applies to any electric/magnetic detector derivative response. research paves way better insulation monitoring sensor harmonization. © 2017 Elsevier Inc. New mitigation methods for transient overvoltages in gas insulated substations
During switching of disconnectors (DS) in GIS a varying number of pre-strikes and re-strikes occur. Due to the very short duration of the voltage collapse, traveling surges are generated in the busbar duct. These very fast transient overvoltages (VFTO) can become the limiting dielectric stress which defines the dimensions at UHV voltage levels. The decision shall be based on the maximum VFTO pe...
متن کاملDisturbance Elimination for Partial Discharge Detection in the Spacer of Gas-Insulated Switchgears
With the increasing demand for precise condition monitoring and diagnosis of gas-insulated switchgears (GISs), it has become a challenge to improve the detection sensitivity of partial discharge (PD) induced in the GIS spacer. This paper deals with the elimination of the capacitive component from the phase-resolved partial discharge (PRPD) signal generated in GIS spacers based on discrete wavel...
متن کاملAnalysis of effective factors on transient ground potential rise in gas insulated substations
This study presents the manner in which transient modeling concepts, which are fully analyzed in the referred standards, are implemented, for the purpose of evaluating the Transient Ground Potential Rise (TGPR). This is a phenomenon of 10–100kV voltages with up to 10μs duration on the grounded enclosure of Gas Insulated Substations (GIS), which may cause concern for personnel safety and problem...
متن کاملUHF Signal Processing and Pattern Recognition of Partial Discharge in Gas-Insulated Switchgear Using Chromatic Methodology
The ultra-high frequency (UHF) method is widely used in insulation condition assessment. However, UHF signal processing algorithms are complicated and the size of the result is large, which hinders extracting features and recognizing partial discharge (PD) patterns. This article investigated the chromatic methodology that is novel in PD detection. The principle of chromatic methodologies in col...
متن کاملStatus Review on Gas Insulated Switchgear Partial Discharge Diagnostic Technique for Preventive Maintenance
Gas insulated switchgear (GIS) plays a vital role in high voltage transmission of electrical energy due to its advantages of high reliability and performance, compact in dimensions and outstanding compatibility with the environment. It uses sulphur hexafluoride gas as its insulant and coolant because of its high dielectric strength and excellent arc quenching ability. Gas insulated switchgear i...
